Ambassador of Portugal in Brazil visits EllaLink Cable Landing Station in Fortaleza
The EllaLink (CLS) Cable Landing Station in Fortaleza received the visit of the Portuguese delegation led by the Ambassador of Portugal in Brazil, Luís Faro Ramos.
Rafael Lozano, Country Manager Brazil at EllaLink had the opportunity to show how the submarine cable is operating. The EllaLink cable extends for 6,000km under the Atlantic Ocean, between the capital of Ceará and Sines (Portugal), ensuring an ultra-high-speed connection (up to 100 terabits per second) and low latency, benefiting the performance of digital businesses, cloud services, electronic banking, online gaming and entertainment media on both sides of the Atlantic.
“We are very proud to enable this Luso-Brazilian partnership through our cable, which offers state-of-the-art technology to connect digital businesses between Latin America and Europe,” Lozano said.
Ambassador Luís Faro Santos, notices that “Our visit strengthens the ties between the two countries and represents a gesture of support of EllaLink’s investment, which benefits both Europe and Latin America”.
The high-level names included under the Portuguese delegation proves the importance of EllaLink in the development of the digital ecosystem of Latin America and Europe. Besides the ambassador Luís Faro Ramos, the Portuguese delegation also included the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Bernardo Ivo Cruz; the Secretary of State for Economy, João Neves; the Vice-Consul in Fortaleza, Ana Cristina Pedroso; and the assistant of the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Maria João Veiga Gomes.
Also part of the entourage is Madalena Oliveira e Silva, Administrator of AICEP, the majority shareholder of aicep Global Parques, and manager of the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone (ZILS), which houses the Cable Landing Station of EllaLink’s optic-fibre submarine cable in the Portuguese city, and Francisco Costa, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Portuguese Ambassy and AICEP’s Delegate in Brazil. “The investment of EllaLink in Portugal is of strategic importance not only for developing the digital economy but also for the technological cooperation between the two countries, confirming Portugal’s position as a link between Europe and other continents”, says Madalena Oliveira e Silva.
